Day 32 Trabadelo – Las Herrerías

I woke after a great night’s sleep is the wonderful Casa Susi. I had breakfast there and got my bag ready but wasn’t in a rush as I only planned a 10km day. I also asked Susi to send me a photo of last night’s meal, I was having too much fun to remember to take one so here’s one from Susi’s Facebook page.Everything was fine until I went to put my jacket on and realised I didn’t have it with me.. I searched everywhere but couldn’t find it. The problem was that I had no idea when I last saw it. I assume is worn it they morning but couldn’t remember taking it off. I looked everywhere and then walked back a few km incase someone had found it and hung it up somewhere but to no avail. Maybe it was further back (I asked various pilgrims but none had seen it) or maybe a pilgrim picked it up by accident but it was definitely gone. The owner Firmin helped me look but we eventually gave up. It just happened that he had a jacket left by another pilgrim so he kindly offered me that. I took it and will wear it either until I find mine or until the rightful owner sees me in his and I can give it back to him. Maybe I will see someone wearing mine one day.So my 10 km day turned into a 16km day. On the plus side I bumped into Randy who was walking from a town a few km behind me so we ended up doing the rest of the day together.The walk was pleasant enough. We followed quite a large road through the valley, huge hills rose on each side reminding us of tomorrow’s impending climb but for today at least the going was relatively level.We walked through several small villages, I took the occasional photo as we walked and kept an eye on every passing pilgrim incase they were carrying my jacket but alas no.Eventually we arrived at Las Herrerías.. Randy had booked a single room. (He’s also known as 5star Randy) .. he tried to upgrade to a twin room so I had a place to stay (bless his cotton socks) but it wasn’t possible. Luckily the receptionist found me a bed in an albergue a couple of minutes away so at least I don’t have to sleep in a field.I’m planning a quiet night tonight. It’s an early start tomorrow and it promises to be a very difficult day. I’m pretty much climbing up and over a mountain so I need to be fresh (and filled with carbs, caffeine and sugar).A quick glass of sangria and then siesta time until I meet Randy for a chat and some food later.. the view from the albergue is quite nice.Buen Camino (and if you see my jacket let me know!)
